Kitchen, dining & living room Extension in Central Bath

This charming Victorian townhouse in Bath faced a common challenge common to many townhouses – insufficient living space on the ground floor. With kitchens often positioned on the ground floor for garden access, it can be difficult to accommodate a full kitchen, dining area, and living space without sacrificing functionality.

To address this issue, we designed a single-storey extension that significantly expanded the ground floor living area. This thoughtful addition created a more spacious and inviting space for the family to gather and enjoy together on one level.

The extension was strategically angled to optimise available space on the property’s unusual shaped plot. Large Crittall-style bi-folding doors seamlessly connect the interior to a stone patio and stepped garden, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors.

The roof features a sophisticated zinc effect standing seam and two generous square rooflights that bathe the extension in natural light. The rear, garden-facing elevation is timber clad which wraps gracefully up the soffit, creating a refined and aesthetically pleasing finish.

This thoughtfully designed extension transformed the townhouse into a more functional and enjoyable living space, perfectly suited for modern family life.

"She listened carefully to what we wanted and made changes to it as we went through."

★★★★★ Client Review:

“Verity was very professional from start to finish and designed a lovely extension for us. She listened carefully to what we wanted and made changes to it as we went through. She also checked that it was all going to plan once the build started. Thoroughly recommend her.”
